Project case study
Synthetic MEAL sample outputs
A fictional survey-design excerpt, data-quality checklist and dashboard using synthetic records only.
SYNTHETIC DEMONSTRATION · NO REAL PARTICIPANT OR EMPLOYER DATA
Survey-design excerpt
This shows how a simple fictional learning-program question can be linked to a response type and a skip rule.
| Field | Example prompt or rule | Response design |
|---|---|---|
| attended_session | Have you attended a learning session in the past month? | Yes / No · required |
| skill_used | Which skill, if any, have you used since attending? | Select all that apply · show if attended_session = Yes |
| other_skill | What other skill did you use? | Text · show if “Other” is selected |
Demonstrates clear variable names, response options and skip logic. This is a design excerpt, not a live questionnaire.
Data-quality checklist
A short review sequence before producing a summary.
- Confirm the consent step is recorded before survey questions begin.
- Check required fields and completion status; flag missing values for review.
- Check response ranges, skip patterns and allowed choices.
- Look for duplicate submission IDs and inconsistent records.
- Record each issue and resolution, then retain only the fields needed for analysis.
Dashboard preview
Illustrative completeness summary from the eight-row synthetic CSV above.
Demonstrates a quick data-quality view for follow-up. These figures are generated only for this fictional example.
Problem
A portfolio should make analytical work tangible while protecting participants and employer information. These small examples demonstrate the shape of the work without representing a real program or evaluation.
Approach
- Start with a clear question and response options.
- Check completeness and consistency before summarizing records.
- Label every demonstration figure as synthetic and explain what the output is meant to show.

Survey design · Data-quality checks · Excel · Power BI concepts
Result
The examples show how question design, validation and descriptive summaries can work together. All records and figures below are fictional.
What I’d do next
For a real assignment, agree on indicators and data definitions with stakeholders, follow the approved data-protection process, and publish only outputs cleared for sharing.
